  • Let your children fly on a magic carpet to storytelling at the National Gallery! This activity is free and is suitable for children 2-5 years old. There are two sessions – 10.30am and 11.30am – and places are allocated upon arrival.
  • Celebrate the launch of the new V&A website and take part in the many interactive events over the weekend. They are taking place from 10.30am to 5pm and are absolutely free, of course!
  • Don’t miss the screening of a series of short films about the creative relationship of Pere Portabella and Joan Miró and also about different aspects of Miró’s work. You can watch them for free at Tate Modern at 3pm. No booking taken, but places are limited.

  • Free family workshop: Style it Out! @ Somerset House. Take your children to explore the “Masters of Style” exhibition and then create your own fashion drawings. This workshop is taking place at 2pm and is suitable for children for children 6-12 years old. There is no need to book, but spaces are limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Welcome to this Friday’s LondonFreeShows edition. We have 26 free events for you to choose from for today. Here are our suggestions:

  • Join this small talk on Rembrandt’s ‘Belshazzar’s Feast’ at the National Gallery at 1pm and then make your own response by making a drawing. Be aware that spaces are limited to 40 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There is a deaf-presenter led and BSL-interpreted free gallery talk on Piero della Francesca’s ‘The Baptism of Christ’ at the National Gallery at 4pm. What a wonderful way to enjoy this painting. So, don’t miss it!
  • Combine your visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum with a free concert at the Norfolk House Music Room at 6.30pm. There will be pieces by Bach, Liszt and Scriabin. What a better way to spend your evening?
