  • free, ticketed, guided tour exploring more about Southbank Centre’s roots, architecture and some memorable moments in its 60-year history (2.30pm). Suitable for ages 6 and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult
  • two 15-minute introductory talks to painters Hogarth and Degas (The National Gallery, 1pm and 1.20pm respectively)
  • free themed tour on the role of ethics in understanding medicine (Wellcome Collection, 2.30pm)
  • Illustration of a pair of congas and a vintage microphonefree gig with Riamba, a salsa dance and Latin jazz band (percussion, drums, keyboards, trumpet, bass, vocals) that combines the rhythms of Latin America with European harmony and jazz music (5.45pm, National Theatre). Watch them here

Hello there! For Tuesday we have collected 20 free events taking place in and around London. Here are some ideas:
Collage/Illustration of children, an acoustic guitar, a pan flute, a banjolele, a carrot and tomatoes

  • fancy some gardening? Free drop-in informal sessions by Volunteer Gardeners of Queen Elizabeth Hall’s Roof Garden. Aimed at adults but families are also welcomed. “Get your hands dirty helping out with the daily maintenance and pick up tips to grow your own plants and vegetables.” (Southbank Centre, 11am-1pm)

Hello there! For Monday, we have collected 21 free events taking place in and around London. With the half-term week on, plenty of them are suitable for children. Here are some ideas:

  • Illustration of childrenfree craft sessions (banded entry every 45 minutes, Horniman Museum, 11am-3.30pm, last entry at 2.45pm) celebrating two seasonal festivals – The Day of the Dead and Halloween.   • free walking session led by a walk leader of Lewisham Healthy Walks. Just meet/turn up at the first bench on the left after the main Horniman Gates (Horniman Museum, 11am). After the walk (lasts for about 30-45 minutes) the participants will have the opportunity to stay and learn by Gordon Lucas, Gardens Manager, how to prepare a garden for the winter months
  • free talk by Colin Wiggins on Ingres’s painting “Madame Moitessier” (The National Gallery, 1pm). Can you spot the fan?
  • free gig by Twelfth Night Band (nyckelharpa, hurdy-gurdy, viola da gamba, flute and mandolin) performing English Renaissance dance music with tunes and songs from the Irish, French and Swedish traditions (National Theatre, 5.45pm)
  • Illustration of a keyboard and a violinfree recital by an award-winner of the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund (Royal Festival Hall – Southbank Centre, 6pm).
