Friday has arrived and are you still wondering what to do? There are 24 free shows in London today! Have a great time!

  • Why not attend the European Piano Teachers Association Competition Winner’s Concert at Saint Martin-in-the-Fields? They will be playing pieces by Chopin, Mendelssohn, Liszt and Ravel. The concert takes place at 1pm and a suggested donation of £3.50 is taken at the end of the concert which goes towards the work of St Martin’s.
  • Head to the National Gallery, take inspiration of the tiny orb in the Wilton Diptych and create your own to take home! The workshop takes place at 1pm, but as places are limited, be there in time to avoid disappointment.
  • Are you wondering what Greeks were doing in Egypt? Then attend the free talk at the British Museum at 1.15pm.
  • Friday Late Summer Camp at the Victoria and Albert Museum! Don’t miss the opportunity to craft and hack your own objects and witness demonstrations of making. Activities start at 6.30pm.

  • Attend Metamorphoses, a performance based on Greek mythology at the National Gallery at 1pm. There will be oral retellings of stories and characters, such as Orpheus, Persephone, Echo, Narcissus, Arachne and Midas. An event not to be missed!
  • Learn how Egyptian papyri are preserved at the British Museum. The talk is free of course and it takes place at 1.15pm.
  • If you are thinking of relaxing way to end your day, then why not head to The Scoop? There is a free open-air screening of ‘Grease’ at 7.30pm.

  • Celebrate the best contemporary composition at Saint Martin-in-the-Fields! Luca Luciano (clarinet) was the winner and he will be playing works of his own, as well as by Vivaldi and Gershwin. The concert takes place at 1pm and a suggested donation of £3.50 is taken at the end of the concert which goes towards the work of St Martin’s.
  • What a better place to explore Light and Atmosphere in Painting that at the National Gallery? There is a special themed our today at 1pm. Don’t miss it!
  • Get a new look at the Native American Arts at the British Museum. There is a free gallery talk at 1.15pm.

  • Let your children fly on a Magic Carpet Storytelling session at the National Gallery. There are two sessions taking place-at 10.30am and 11.30am-and they are suitable for under 5s.
  • Why not make a mismatch creature at the British Museum? This is a free family digital workshop, where your children can combine unusual animals from the Museum’s collections to create their own fantasy creature. The workshop starts at 11.30am and is suitable for ages 7+.
  • Why not visit Tate Britain and get to know about British art from 1500 until today. There are Highlights of the Collection Display Tours at 12 noon and 3pm, which can give can give you an idea about the art of that period.
